elos is a powerful open source framework for event logging, event management and normalised event processing on Linux. Companies benefit from a central, scalable solution for efficiently capturing, filtering, storing and securely processing system events. elos was originally developed in the automotive industry and is ideal for complex Linux-based platforms with high requirements for stability, security and traceability.
Centralised Event Processing for Embedded Systems
Central event processing with a uniform data format
elos automatically converts incoming events from different sources into a standardised Canonical Event Format. This produces clear, consistent and easily analysable event data – regardless of source, structure or interface. Benefit: less complexity, faster integration and a simplified system architecture.
Focus on Efficient Development
elos handles the collection, normalisation and distribution of events automatically. Developers no longer have to maintain individual logging mechanisms and can concentrate directly on implementing event reactions, business logic and product functions.
Intelligent filtering reduces efforts and data volume
Through flexible filtering rules, connected clients receive only the events they actually need. Unnecessary floods of events are avoided. Benefit: higher performance, lower system load and more efficient use of resources.
Secure storage with individual retention policies
In the storage subsystem, events can be stored selectively depending on rules. Different retention policies enable intelligent data management. This also makes cybersecurity audits and post-mortem analyses possible. In addition, elos protects security-relevant events through sender authorisation.
Future-proof architecture with low maintenance requirements
If an event source or interface changes, only the elos input has to be adapted, as a single event. The rest of the software remains unchanged, as the standardised Canonical Event Format continues to be used.

Incidentally, the mascot is a bare-nosed wombat. It is made up of the handwritten word elos.
The elos framework was initiated by Elektrobit Automotive GmbH. The implementation was carried out together with emlix GmbH, which was responsible for the implementation and now remains active as the maintainer of the open source project.
